English Language Arts / Early Adolescence

This certificate is appropriate for teachers who teach students ages 11-15 and who know the full range of the school language arts curriculum, including reading, writing, listening and speaking.

NOTICE: If you applied for National Board Certification as a first time candidate after March 1, 2014, please note that the description of National Board Certification presented in the following editions of National Board Standards does not reflect the revisions to the certification now in progress.

If you started the process in 2012 or 2013 prior to the revisions to the certification process, the description of National Board Certification is accurate for your candidacy.

Important Note: 
A new edition of the English Language Arts Standards (3rd edition) has been published. If you are a first-time candidate beginning the certification process in 2014-15, please use these revised standards linked below.  
Candidates who applied in 2013-14 and earlier should continue to use the previous version of the standards.
