Profile of Professional Growth

Profile of Professional GrowthSM

As a renewal candidate, you will complete the Profile of Professional Growth (PPG) process, which requires one portfolio entry and allows you to demonstrate the connections you make between your continued professional growth and student learning. The entry consists of three components and a reflection.

  • Component one: Complete and submit a set of activities based on the current standards for your field.
  • Component two: Submit a video in which you demonstrate preK-12 classroom teaching in the same content and developmental level as your original certification. You do not have to be a full-time teacher in the classroom to complete this component.
  • Component three: You may either submit a video or learner work that demonstrates participant interaction. In the reflection submission, you reflect on the first three components.

Many successful renewal candidates report that the Profile of Professional Growth process takes 30-40 hours. All components and the reflection are evaluated as one entity and the decision is: “renewed” or “not renewed.” Since candidates for renewal have already demonstrated that they are highly accomplished teachers, approximately 9 out of 10 candidates successfully renew their certification.
