Louisiana Candidate Financial Support

Louisiana is pleased to announce that funding is available to help offset the cost of the assessment fee. This funding is made possible through a Federal and State Subsidy grant from the United States Department of Education. Please read the information below for specific details, deadlines and contact information.

Funding Available

Funding Available - First-Time Candidates Federal Funding
The Louisiana Department of Education (LDE) is currently preparing for the 2009-2010 application process. Each year, the LDE awards a $2,000 subsidy ($1,150 federal subsidy + $850 state subsidy) to candidates to assist them in their NBC efforts. Candidates who receive the subsidy are chosen through a selection process in which applications and applicant essays are ranked. If selected, candidates receive the $2,000 subsidy and candidate support through mentoring and support meetings. Currently in the spring of each year, the Department schedules pre-candidacy informational meetings for the NBC process. To be eligible for the subsidy and to begin the subsidy application process, interested individuals must attend one of these meetings.  If interested in participating in the 2009-2010 NBC process and in applying for the federal and state subsidy, please visit the Coursewhere site beginning in January, register and attend a recruitment meeting scheduled nearest you. If you have questions concerning the National Board Certification subsidy, contact Andrea Farmer at andrea.farmer@la.gov.

Deadline to apply: May 8, 2009
