National Board Certification submissions are scored against National Board Standards. Each submission offers an opportunity to see the candidates at work and to evaluate their practice in light of conscious, deliberate, analytical, and reflective criteria. No single approach to teaching or school counseling is mandated or rewarded by the scoring process. Indeed, several different pedagogical approaches characterize the teachers and school counselors who have achieved National Board Certification. However, in every case, NBCTs demonstrate the analytical and reflective abilities defined in the standards.
We recommend you compile your evidence and write your reflective papers mindful of the scoring rubrics and the process assessors will follow. Access the rubrics and learn more about the scoring process by reviewing your certificate specific Scoring Guide and Evaluation of Evidence.
Scores will be released on or before December 31, and will only be accessible through your My Profile account.
