Erica attended Midway College where she obtained her Bachelors in Elementary Education. Erica went on to receive her Masters of Education, Reading Specialist, from the University of the Cumberlands. Erica lives in Allen, KY with her husband, Kevin. They are getting ready to celebrate their 24th wedding anniversary. They have 3 boys, Weston, Kevin II, & Aaron. They have 1 daughter, Keisha, and a daughter-in-law, Heidi. Erica’s family also has 2 cats, 1 dog, and a bearded dragon (that is shared with Erica’s classroom). Erica loves watching movies, music, and spending time outside.

My journey for National Board Certification was a long one! I felt the sting of disappointment three times. The first two I questioned myself as an educator. Was I in the wrong profession? Was I not an effective teacher? I was following the guidelines down to the letter. Why wasn’t I certifying? Still, I tried again. I knew I could do it. I just had to work a little harder.
