The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Now Accepting Applications for Literacy Standards Revision Committee

ARLINGTON, VA. – January 15, 2026

Are you interested in shaping the future of literacy instruction? The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (National Board) invites passionate literacy educators, leaders, and scholars to apply to serve on the Literacy: Reading–Language Arts (LRLA) Standards Revision Committee.

Grounded in our principle of for teachers, by teachers, this committee brings educators’ voices and expertise to the center of the standards revision process. Committee members play a vital role in guiding the next iteration of the LRLA standards, contributing their classroom experience, professional insight, and diverse perspectives to a collaborative national effort. This work ensures the standards reflect current research and practice while continuing to elevate the teaching profession.
