Virginia is pleased to announce that funding is available to help offset the cost of the assessment fee. This funding is made possible through a Federal Subsidy grant from the United States Department of Education. Funding Available - First-Time Candidates State Funding
Legislative appropriation provides for $1,000 portion of the fee for 75 candidates. Candidates will be selected randomly by a specified deadline. Priority will be given to teachers from hard-to-staff schools with the balance of the funding distributed among the eight superintendents' regions in the state. Candidates must meet NBPTS eligibility guidelines.
Funding Available - First-Time Candidates Federal Funding
The Virginia Department of Education will utilize NBPTS Candidate Subsidy funds to support as many candidates as funding will allow at $1,000 of the certification fee.

Funding Available Retake Candidates
