Congratulations on starting your National Board Certification Journey. Here are a couple of tips or resources as you get started.

  • Read all relevant documents on the Candidate Center page.
  • Teachers going through the process report that formal cohorts and NBCTs mentors are an invaluable resource. Reach out to the people and institutions on your state page.
  • We know that many educators have questions about sources of funding for National Board certification. This page includes a partial list of third-party resources.
  • As a National Board candidate, you have access to 4 free ATLAS cases. All ATLAS-video cases feature an authentic, unedited, 15-minute video clip of a Board-certified teacher in action in the classroom. In addition to the video, there is a written commentary that addresses the context, planning, and analysis of the teaching, with a reflection on what aspects of their practice worked well and what could have been improved. You can sign up here.

If you don’t have candidate support in your community, we have a couple of options to share with you. Here are a couple of important notes:

  • These resources were not created by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
  • These resources are not intended to replace candidate support programs.
  • Engaging with these resources is not a guarantee of success on Board Certification.
